The Team wins first gold of the night at the DBA’s Design Effectiveness Awards

The Team, with long-term client Gas Safe Register, won gold in the Design for Society category for its ‘Silent Killer’ campaign, at this year’s Design Effectiveness Awards. Additionally, the international brand and communications agency won bronze for its charity rebrand, Stroke Association.

Recognised as one of the UK’s most prestigious design for business Awards, last night’s annual turnout was held at Tobacco Dock, London. The guest list of shortlisted winners included many of the top 20 creative and design businesses in this country.

The judging panels, made up entirely of clients and consisting of heads from brands such as Kimberly-Clark, Nokia, GlaxoSmithKline, Marks and Spencer, Reckitt Benkiser, Unilever, Diageo, Samsung and Waitrose, put the entries through two rounds of rigorous judging to award a record-breaking 65 winners this year.

Within their category The Team were shortlisted with agencies Landor Associates (M&S Shwopping campaign), Tayburn (Scotland Yard Adventure Centre), Clickworks ( Aware Life Skills) and Felton Communication (Crime Stoppers).

The gold-winning campaign was the result of an idea they took to their client, Gas Safe Register, to create a hard-hitting marketing asset which would jolt, engage and educate the hard-to-reach student audience about the devastating effects of carbon monoxide poisoning. The objective was to raise awareness of the signs of unsafe gas work and the symptoms of poisoning, with the ultimate call to action to persuade viewers to check the gas safety record of their rental property with their landlord.

In the rebrand category (over 100k) for Stroke Association, The Team was shortlisted with agencies Hall and Woodhouse (Badger) and DewGibbons + Partners (Mama Natura), who both won silver. No gold was presented in this category.

On being shortlisted and winning the awards last night, The Team’s MD, Kevin MacKenzie said:
