The Team picks its top 5 from D&AD New Blood 2017

It’s show season again and The Team has been out visiting university degree shows from around the country, all cumulating at the D&AD New Blood show at the Truman Brewery in London.

Every year we leave impressed with the high quality of work on show and this year is no different. With great difficulty. we’ve narrowed it down to five of our favourite projects from New Blood 2017.

Joe Haulding – Maybe Later

This beautiful book, Maybe Later, is filled with playful and fun illustrations. The book designed for procrastinators, is cleverly and ironically applied to a productive notebook representing the internal struggle many of us face at work!

Tianxin Xia – Tao

I immediately fell in love with this playful brand pottery brand by Tianxin Xia. Characterising the concept of imperfect pottery with marks or defects, giving them a new home where they’re wanted and importantly reducing waste in manufacturing.

Liv Beresford-Evans

This rebrand of popular independent Italian food shop, Lina Stores in Soho, retains the iconic elements of their store and combines it with eclectic typography and the diversity of the products in store.

Harriet Richardson

Harriet from UCLAN had some fantastic work on display, one such project was this clever way to encourage people to switch from sugary drinks to water.

Hazel Oguz

And finally, this beautiful packaging and branding piece for a range of hummus called Moreish. The fun illustrative style resonates with the expression and feeling hummus lovers experience, and the charcoal drawings reference the grilled lines found on authentic pitta bread! Yum!

To celebrate degree season and highlight the best new design talent around, we’re holding a studio open day called WORKOUT on Friday 14 July.

All day we’re holding portfolio reviews offering helpful tips and ways to improve your folio and open Q&A where you can ask designers any questions about the industry (I heard there might be pizza too…)

To join in send us your folio: designintern@theteam.co.uk

Booking is essential.

Hope to see you there!
