Our first day back at the agency in 2015 was greeted with a very smiley email from our neighbours over at Southwark Foodbank. The Team’s 2014 Christmas card campaign had managed to help the charity purchase an additional 20 Christmas dinner hampers, making the total number donated to families in need in the borough up to 120.
The Christmas campaign began early November when ‘Team elves’, guided by paper sculptor extraordinaire Richie Martin, began creating a beautiful over sized, full Christmas dinner made entirely out of paper. This was then presented as an installation on our reception Welcome Table.
Photographed and then sent via an e-card to clients and contacts on 3rd December, we encouraged people to share via twitter, what made their Christmas dinner special using the hashtag #makeitrealthisxmas.
Favourite tweets were retweeted daily up to Christmas Eve, with a thank you of a specially created Vine. Additionally and most importantly, the daily favourite tweet generated a donation from The Team to Southwark Foodbank who would then ‘make it real’ for those in need.
Loved by visitors to our agency in SE1, who couldn’t resist playing with the food, the impressive festive installation featured bowls of sprouts, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, pigs in blankets plus a Christmas pudding, wine, glasses, carving knives, plates, cutlery, gravy boat and a giant turkey all made entirely of paper. Our campaign was also featured in Design Week’s 2014 Christmas card ‘Round Up’.
Thank you to everyone who got involved over December. In the words of Felicia Boshorin at Southwark Foodbank, “Happy New Year to you and your team. And thank you for your support in ensuring that local families where able to have a Christmas treat”.
