Creating a user-centred patient experience online

The brief

As a retained communications partner we were asked to design, develop and build the corporate web portal of the National Health Service nhs.co.uk.

The solution

Complying to UK government best practice, our objective was to create an accessible website designed to meet the needs of a diverse target audience comprising the general public and NHS staff.

In the role of creative and technical developers, our user-centric approach and attitude to online accessibility were invaluable on this project as they served to educate the client about the principles of Web Accessibility Initiative standards (WAI) and UK government web guidelines.

The result was the delivery of fully compliant web page templates that integrated with the NHS's own bespoke content management system and the gateway to the NHS online.
